The launch event of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) was a grand affair, filled with luxury and extravagance. Everything from the international celebrities in attendance, the lavish dinner, and the gala itself exuded a sense of opulence. This included the accessories worn by the hosts.
Anant Ambani, who attended the glamorous event with his fiancée Radhika Merchant, was dressed in an all-black suit featuring diamond-studded buttons and a brooch. However, it was his watch that caught everyone’s attention.
Anant wore Patek Philippe’s Grandmaster Chime Watch, which is reportedly worth a staggering ₹18 crores and is considered to be the most complicated wristwatch ever made. The watch boasts twenty complications, a reversible case, two independent dials, and six patented innovations. It took a total of 100,000 hours to make.
Indian Horology, a social media account, provided an extensive description of the watch. According to them, “The most complicated Patek Philippe wristwatch unites accomplishment and elegance in a new white gold version, boasting a front and back blue opaline dial. The reversible case, adorned with a hand-guilloched hobnail pattern, is notable for its patented reversing mechanism. The 20 complications include five chiming modes, two of which are patented world firsts: an acoustic alarm that strikes the preselected time and a date repeater sounding the date on demand. Manually wound mechanical movement.”
Radhika Merchant, who is set to marry Anant Ambani, also sported an eye-catching mini bag worth ₹2 crores at the launch of the NMACC.
The question remains, how much money is too much money? But for the wealthy, grandeur and luxury seem to come naturally.
