Twitter’s blue tick verification used to be a highly coveted status symbol, as it signified that a user’s account was genuine and verified. However, the social media giant’s verification process has undergone a significant change in recent years, with business magnate Elon Musk introducing a subscription model that allows anyone to purchase a blue tick for $8 per month.
The hashtag #Bluetick is currently trending on Twitter, with users taking note of the missing blue ticks from the accounts of various high-profile individuals, including Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, Cristiano Ronaldo, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Salman Khan, Rohit Sharma, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Shraddha Kapoor, Kapil Sharma, and others.
Elon Musk had previously announced that the “legacy” blue checkmarks would be removed on April 20, prompting a flood of memes and reactions on the micro-blogging platform. Watching prominent individuals without their blue ticks was a new experience for many, and netizens took advantage of the opportunity to poke fun at the situation.
Here are some of the most entertaining reactions from Twitter:

The humor and irony of the situation were not lost on Twitter users, who noted the new opportunity to see prominent accounts without their blue ticks. The removal of the blue tick from accounts has brought everyone to the same level, and with the introduction of the blue tick subscription model, high-profile individuals will need to pay the subscription fee if they want to regain their blue tick.
In conclusion, Twitter’s latest policy change and the subsequent removal of blue ticks from prominent accounts has created a stir on the platform. The introduction of Elon Musk’s blue tick subscription model has brought everyone to a level playing field, and it remains to be seen how high-profile individuals will react to the new policy.
