Recently, Mohammad Rizwan became the fastest to complete 3000 runs in T20 cricket during the second T20 match against New Zealand. Rizwan achieved this milestone after Babar Azam, making him the second Pakistani batsman to reach this feat. Pakistani fast bowler, Shaheen Afridi, took to social media to praise Rizwan, drawing comparisons to Australia’s legendary player Sir Don Bradman. This led to Shaheen receiving a barrage of trolls, much to the amusement of fans.
Shaheen Praises Rizwan’s Remarkable Feat
Shaheen took to his social media handles to applaud Rizwan, writing, “Cheers to the Bradman of T20 cricket and Pakistan’s Superman Mohammad Rizwan for completing three thousand runs in T20. Your impact in the game is evident, shutting down critics. Keep moving forward, champion. You are an inspiration to many.”
Fans React with Humor
Fans had a field day trolling Shaheen for comparing Rizwan to Bradman. It’s worth noting that both Rizwan and Babar Azam had struggled to perform in major tournaments previously. Pakistan’s top position was impacted during the final of the previous World Cup held in Australia. Despite a commendable performance by the bowlers, Ben Stokes played a stellar innings leading England to victory.
Shaheen Recently Stripped of Captaincy
Shaheen was appointed as the captain of Pakistan’s T20 team last November, replacing Babar Azam. However, under his leadership, the team’s performance deteriorated significantly. Subsequently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) removed Shaheen and reinstated Babar Azam to lead the team for limited overs. Currently, Pakistan is engaged in a five-match T20 series against New Zealand. The series is currently leveled at 1-1 between the two teams.
