Scottish Vlogger Declares Bengaluru as India’s ‘Best Food City’, Says He Would ‘Die’ for the Dosa and Idli

It is often said that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach, and this holds especially true for foreign tourists visiting India. We Indians take immense pride when visitors from abroad fall in love with our diverse culinary landscape. Recently, a video has taken social media by storm, featuring a Scottish vlogger who, after touring the length and breadth of the country, has crowned Bengaluru as the ultimate food destination in India. His heartfelt appreciation for the city’s breakfast culture has left netizens buzzing.

The viral video, shared on Instagram by the handle @hugh.abroad, features a Scottish travel vlogger named Hugh. He explains that during his extensive journey across India, he visited major culinary hubs including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi. Despite the tough competition from these legendary food cities, it was the capital of Karnataka that won him over. Hugh didn’t hold back his praise, specifically highlighting Bengaluru’s breakfast game as unrivaled.

What exactly captivated his taste buds? It was the classic South Indian breakfast staples. Hugh was poetic in his description of the humble Dosa, comparing its texture to glass because of how incredibly crispy it was. He was equally fascinated by the variety of fillings available. Moving on to the Idlis, he expressed sheer amazement at their texture, noting that they were so soft they literally melted in his mouth. Topping it all off with the iconic filter coffee, the vlogger admitted he was craving the meal so badly that he said, “I would die for one right now, so tasty.”

The video has naturally sparked a lively debate in the comments section, as is typical with any food ranking in India. Many users, particularly those from the South, felt vindicated. One user commented, “I agree, Dosa and Idli are the best breakfast,” while another stated, “Bengaluru offers the best food in terms of taste and variety.” However, the diversity of Indian cuisine meant not everyone agreed. Some foodies felt he hadn’t explored enough, with one user cheekily noting, “Without visiting Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, this guy sat down to judge the best food.” Regardless of the debate, the video stands as a sweet testament to the global appeal of Namma Bengaluru’s darshinis and tiffin rooms.
