The Supreme Court has started hearing the Ram Janmabhoomi and Babri Masjid cases on the 40th day on Wednesday. A five-member constitutional bench is hearing the case. CJI Ranjan Gogoi had hoped that the trial in the case would be completed by October 17 and a verdict on the Ayodhya issue would be pronounced on November 17. CJI Ranjan Gogoi is retiring on November 17. In Hindi films, every effort is made to capitalize on every subject. In such a situation, many such films have been made in Bollywood which mention the Ayodhya case. Let’s talk about those films.
‘Game of Ayodhya’
Director Sunil Singh’s film ‘Game of Ayodhya’ is based on the report of the Liberhan Commission. The film was released in the year 2017. The film put many political faces in the dock. The film contains actual footage of speeches of the leaders of the time. The film has a love story and some Hindu-Muslim characters.
Saat Khoon Maaf, 2011
Saat Khoon Maaf was a psychological thriller film released in 2011. It was directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Priyanka Chopra played the lead role in the film. The film described the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Sujana listens to Wasiullah Khan (Irrfan Khan) in Kashmir and he says – ‘कोई कहता है एक मस्जिद थी, कोई कहता है एक मंदिर था। मंदिर ये चुप है, मस्जिद है गुमसुम, इबादत तक पड़ेगी।’
Black friday, 2007
Director Anurag Kashyap’s film Black Friday is also included in this list. The specialty of this film is that the film was completed in only 70 days. On Black Friday, in 1993, the attack in Mumbai has tried to be shown in a systematic manner. These bomb blasts occurred only after the Babri Masjid collapsed. The film was so controversial that the censor board had banned the film in the year 2004 and three years later the film got a chance to release.
Another film directed on the Babri Masjid incident. The director of the film was Mani Ratnam. Arvind Swamy and Manisha Koirala were in the lead roles in this film. The film also did well to earn from the Babri Masjid controversy and the film was a success. The film also depicts the time when the Babri Masjid was demolished and riots broke out in the city. Mani Ratnam’s direction for the film was also appreciated.
