The last two days have been dominated by the inauguration of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Culture Centre (NMACC), which was probably the biggest event one can imagine. The event brought together a massive list of the biggest celebrities not just from the Hindi entertainment industry but from Hollywood as well, making it the talk of the town.
As expected, the event also invited a lot of scrutiny and actor Varun Dhawan found himself in the midst of an unanticipated controversy. During his performance with American model Gigi Hadid, Dhawan lifted her up in his arms and gave her a kiss on the cheek as their performance continued.
This act was blown out of proportion on social media, with netizens condemning Dhawan and slamming him for his actions. However, Dhawan, who is usually quiet on any controversies, immediately addressed this ongoing saga. He took to Twitter to hit back at the backlash directed at him, with his tweet reading, “I guess today you woke up and decided to be woke. So lemme burst ur bubble and tell u it was planned for her to be on stage so find a new Twitter cause to vent about rather than going out and doing something about things. Good morning.”
Despite the controversy, the actor was also in the central focus for the right reason as he shared the stage with megastar Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh for a performance at the same event.
On the work front, Dhawan is set to star in the web series, Citadel, opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu on Amazon Prime Video.
