Fans are eagerly waiting for the new season of the series Panchayat. The first season premiered in 2020, followed by the second in 2022, and now, the third season is set to release in 2024. If you’ve been following the series from the beginning, you must have noticed the frequent appearance of lauki (bottle gourd). From the first season to the second, the village head (Pradhan Ji) consistently hands out lauki to everyone he meets. Even Secretary Ji (Sakshi Ji), played by Jitendra Kumar, gets fed up with the constant lauki. When Jitendra was asked about the significance of lauki, here’s what he revealed.

Why Lauki is Featured

In an interview with Live Hindustan, Jitendra was asked why lauki is so prominently featured in the series and why not another vegetable. Jitendra explained, “In the village, lauki is abundant, so it made sense to showcase it. It’s the one vegetable that’s easily available. Besides, everyone eats lauki, and it’s good for health. Highlighting lauki in the series was not meant to downplay other vegetables.”

Lauki Highlighted in Season Three

It’s worth mentioning that even before the trailer release of the third season, lauki was given a lot of attention. The makers adopted a unique style to announce the trailer release date. On the website, users were asked to remove several lauki to find the trailer release date.

Release Date

Talking about Panchayat, this season will feature the Panchayat elections. The atmosphere in the village during the elections and the antics of Banrakas (Durgesh Kumar) as he aspires to become the village head will be quite entertaining. Directed by Deepak Kumar Mishra, Panchayat is set to release on Prime Video on May 28.
