Gangster-Politician Atiq Ahmed’s Son, Wanted in Murder Case, Killed in Encounter

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday killed Asad, the son of gangster-politician Atiq Ahmed, and another person named Ghulam in an encounter in Jhansi. Asad was wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, and both he and Ghulam had a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on their heads.

Encounter Details

The encounter was led by Deputy SP Navendu and Deputy SP Vimal near the Pariksha Dam in Jhansi. Police teams had been conducting search operations in the area when they found the two deceased, who were hiding in the vicinity. The police recovered advanced foreign-made weapons from the scene.

Atiq Ahmed’s Involvement in the Murder Case

The encounter took place while Atiq Ahmed was being produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court in Prayagraj for his involvement in the Umesh Pal murder case. Umesh Pal, a key witness in the 2005 murder case of BSP MLA Raju Pal, was shot dead along with his two police security guards outside his home in Prayagraj’s Dhoomanganj area on February 24, 2023.

Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, Asad, Ghulam, and others were named in a complaint lodged by Umesh Pal’s wife, Jaya Pal. The police registered a case against them on February 25, 2023.

The killing of Asad and Ghulam in the encounter is a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Umesh Pal murder case. The use of advanced weapons by the deceased highlights the need for better policing and stricter laws to curb the increasing number of criminal activities in the state. It is hoped that justice will be served in the murder case, and the guilty parties will be brought to justice.
