In a shocking display of lawlessness, a group of youngsters from Ambikapur turned a busy state highway into a private party zone to celebrate a birthday. The incident, which took place on the Ambikapur-Banaras State Highway near the Sonwahi area, has sparked massive outrage after a video surfaced online showing an ambulance and dozens of other vehicles stranded in a nearly one-kilometre-long traffic jam caused by the celebration.
According to reports, the group of around seven youths first enjoyed a party at a local dhaba before moving their celebrations to the middle of the road. They parked their SUVs across both lanes, completely blocking the flow of traffic. The viral footage captures the group bursting loud firecrackers on the asphalt and cutting a birthday cake on the bonnet of a car, seemingly oblivious to the chaos they were causing for regular commuters.
The most disturbing part of the viral clip is the sight of an emergency ambulance stuck in the pile-up. While it remains unconfirmed if there was a patient inside at the time, the act has drawn sharp criticism for its sheer insensitivity. Local witnesses claim the highway remained choked for nearly thirty minutes before the group finally cleared the path.
This brazen act comes as a direct challenge to the Chhattisgarh High Court’s recent strict directives against road stunts and public birthday celebrations. The court had previously warned the state police to take “deterrent action” rather than “symbolic action” against such hooliganism.

An FIR has been registered at the Latori police outpost under relevant sections of the BNS (including Section 126(2) for wrongful restraint and Section 285). Two individuals, identified as Anshul Agrawal and Amitesh Gupta, have been named in the case, while police are working to identify the remaining participants through the video footage. Officials have assured that strict legal consequences will follow to set a strong example against such public nuisance.
