Ocean Park released a statement regarding the incident, explaining that the safety system automatically activated when a malfunction was detected in the ride’s signal system at 6:20 PM, leading to the immediate suspension of the ride. Park management clarified that all rides are inspected daily. When asked when the rides were last checked, they stated that regular maintenance and testing are carried out according to the specific technical requirements of each ride.
Meanwhile, registered engineer and Hong Kong lawmaker Chan Siu-hung expressed concern, stating that “the continuous technical failures of amusement rides in the park indicate that safety standards need a thorough review and investigation. This will not only ensure the safety of visitors but also restore their confidence.”
