Horrific Details of the Kanpur Mob Assault
The brutal Kanpur mob assault allegedly occurred after local villagers took the law into their own hands. The video footage shows a chaotic scene where the disabled man is surrounded and overpowered. The group can be seen roughing him up before tonsuring his head and smearing black soot on his face as a form of public humiliation.
This act of vigilantism was reportedly triggered by repeated allegations of harassment against the man, which the villagers felt were not adequately addressed by the police earlier.
Serious Allegations of Student Harassment
The mother of one of the schoolgirls has leveled serious accusations against the disabled man. In her complaint to the police, she alleged that he had been harassing her daughter for several days. She claimed he would block her daughter’s path and, in one terrifying incident, even appeared at their home wearing a military uniform and carrying a knife, leaving the family deeply frightened.
The family stated that they had previously reported the harassment by calling the 112 police helpline. However, they claim the police only issued a warning to the man and let him go. When he allegedly harassed the student again on Thursday, the villagers’ anger boiled over, leading to the violent Kanpur mob assault.
Police Investigation Underway
Sachindi police station in-charge, Dinesh Bisht, has confirmed that an investigation is in progress. He stated that while the disabled man has filed a complaint against his attackers, the police have not yet received a formal written complaint against him for the alleged harassment.
Officials are currently gathering information from both parties involved to establish the facts before taking further legal action. The detention of six individuals marks the first step in addressing the brutal mob justice captured on video.
