Shocking videos often emerge from Pakistan on social media. In a recent instance, an old video from April 2023 has resurfaced and gone viral. This video shows food being served on plates made from condom wrappers at a shop in Karachi Airport.
Sleem Akhtar Siddiqui, a passenger, originally posted this video on Facebook on April 13, 2023. In the video, he explains, “I bought some food items from Karachi Airport. I took this patty (showing the patty in the video), and when I looked closely, I realized this plate is made from condom wrappers.”

Sleem then goes back to the shop and talks to the boy working there. He says, “This is the same shop where I bought this. Their rates are very good, and the quality is also good. (Talking to the shop worker) Now I bought this from your shop; you have many interesting things here. Will you give me a paper plate?”

The shop worker gives him the same paper plate, which has the identical information written on it. Seeing this, Sleem remarks, “MashaAllah, our country is a nuclear power, and these paper plates are being used here. This means Pakistan’s conditions have become so bad; it’s saddening to see this.”
According to a report published in Daily Pakistan, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan took action after this video went viral. The CAA shut down the company’s counters at both domestic and international terminals and also imposed a fine on the company. The report also stated that these plates had been in use for several days, but action was only taken after the video surfaced.
