A hilarious Rampur thief chase captured on CCTV in Uttar Pradesh is going viral, with viewers comparing the chaotic scene to something straight out of a Bollywood movie. The incredible footage shows a massive group of villagers in hot pursuit of a single thief, creating a real-life spectacle reminiscent of the film Bhagam Bhag.
The incident reportedly took place in the Teen Wali Masjid neighborhood of Rampur. The viral clip shows the thief firing two shots during the frantic chase, though thankfully, no injuries have been reported so far. The video has exploded online, with people drawing parallels to popular, high-energy movie climax scenes.

Inside the ‘Bhagam Bhag’ Style Rampur Thief Chase
The CCTV footage captures the moment a lone thief is seen sprinting down a narrow lane. Seconds later, a crowd of 50 to 70 villagers floods the frame, all running desperately to catch him. The scene is both tense and comical, as many of the villagers appear to have been woken up suddenly, with some not even fully dressed for the chase.
In a particularly amusing detail that has caught the internet’s attention, one villager can be seen preparing ‘ghutka’ (chewing tobacco) in his hand even as he runs at full tilt. This moment perfectly captures the chaotic and spontaneous nature of the Rampur thief chase.
Concerns Over Crime as Thief Fires Shots
While the chase itself has a comedic quality, a serious element was introduced when the thief reportedly fired two gunshots to deter his pursuers. Police are currently investigating the incident and are actively searching for the culprit involved in the Rampur thief chase.
The viral video has also sparked a conversation about public safety in the region. Responding to the incident, a user named @ZakirAliTyagi posted on X about the rising crime wave in Western Uttar Pradesh. He shared a personal anecdote, stating in a translated tweet, “Western UP is surrounded by thieves and miscreants these days. I had come to my village, and just now thieves broke into a house. Hearing the noise, the villagers tried to surround them, but the thieves fired at the villagers and escaped!”
