The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team, under the captaincy of Nitish Rana, did not have a good start in the IPL 2023 season, losing their first match against the Punjab Kings by seven runs. Unfortunately, the team has been dealt another setback as one of its foreign players has decided to withdraw from the tournament.

The player in question is Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladeshi cricketer and current skipper of the Bangladeshi team, who was purchased by KKR for Rs. 1.50 crore. Shakib has cited personal reasons and international commitments for his decision not to participate in the IPL 2023.

Initially, the KKR management believed that Shakib would join the team after March 31, 2023, as the white ball series against Ireland was scheduled to end by that time. However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has refused to release Shakib and Litton Das, as they want both of them to be available for the Mirpur test match.

Shakib Al Hasan has informed the KKR franchise about his decision, which may have a negative impact on the team’s campaign in the tournament.
